Resume Tips
- Your resume should clearly tell the recruiter what you seek to do at the company. A recruiter will discard your resume if your work history, dates of employment and reason for applying are not clear.
- A resume gets you the interview, not the job. Save the detailed descriptions for the interview.
- Include specifics about your past experience, including achievements and tangible actions.
- Show what you have achieved in your position(s). Don’t regurgitate your job description!
- To the extent possible, show a logical pattern of growth in your career.
Interview Tips
- Below are four commonly asked interview questions. Be prepared to answer them!
- Tell me about yourself.
- What is your weakness?
- What are your strengths?
- Why should we hire you?
- Keep periodic eye contact with the interviewer. Use the interview’s name during the interview. Laugh or smile once in a while – remember, interviewers are people, too!
- Listen carefully to the questions asked. Answer questions as directly as possible. Use examples of how your skills and abilities would fit the job.
- Dress in a neat and tidy manner. If you are unsure about the attire expectations, go with the more conservative option. It’s better to be more ‘dressed up’ than ‘dressed down.’
- Be prepared to provide updated references if asked. You should contact your references before the interview, just in case.
